Areas of Support

Individual Counseling

One-on-one mental health treatment that is personalized to suit an individual’s unique needs. It may involve setting therapeutic goals, processing one’s past, and learning how to manage one’s symptoms or triggers in order to live a healthier life. Our counselors use a variety of therapeutic techniques and modalities to help clients meet their individual goals.  Wishing You Well Counseling Center offers individual therapy to children, adolescents and adults.

Play Therapy

“Trained Play Therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development .” (www.a4pt.org) Play therapy has become widely recognized as one of the most indispensable treatment modalities for young clients.  There is not approach to child counseling that has been proven more effective.  At Wishing You Well we have not only providers who can offer play therapy to children, but also Registered Play Therapist-Supervisors who are able to provide supervision for individuals interested in becoming Play Therapists.

Telemental Health Services

Wishing You Well is pleased to have a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider in our group.  Telemental health services can be a safe and effective alternative to in person counseling sessions.  A HIPPA compliant video chat platform is utilized to enable face to face sessions between provider and client.  Web camera and a private space are required for every session.  Headphones are optional for added privacy.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

This is a form of psychotherapy for post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD. After a traumatic event, some people experience unwanted thoughts, disturbing nightmares, feelings of hopelessness, depression, and hypervigilance. The goal of prolonged exposure therapy is to gradually help you re-engage with life, especially with things you have been avoiding. By doing so, you will strengthen your ability to distinguish safety from danger and decrease your PTSD symptoms.

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling, also known as marriage counseling, is a type of counseling for intimate partners. It involves the exploration of any conflicts between the partners, is often short-term, and focuses on specific problems.1  (American Psychological Association. (Couples counseling.)  Other goals of couples counseling are improving communication and interactions and strengthening relationships.  At Wishing You Well Counseling Center one therapist may see both partners together (and sometimes separately as needed) or two clinicians can be utilized – one seeing each partner for individual counseling and then coming together as a group for couples counseling.

Parent Coaching

This service is designed for couples with children who are divorced, or in the process of divorce.  The goal is to create a healthy co-parenting relationship.  Based on extensive experience and training, our parent coaches work to assess the unique needs of your family, offer information about parenting time based on the developmental needs of children, and work with the parents, individually or together, to improve communication and move forward post divorce.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

This is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.

Family Counseling

Counseling of parents or other family members by a therapist who provides information, emotional support, and practical guidance on problems faced in the family context, such as raising a child who is disabled, blending families, dealing with grief and loss, sibling issues, etc.   (American Psychological Association. (Family Counseling) One therapist, or multiple therapists can be utilized in this process.

Collaborative Divorce Coaching

Divorce coaches are licensed mental health professionals who help individuals seeking a graceful divorce.  In a Collaborative Divorce decisions are left to the parties without going through the court system.  The parties can decide whether they each want individual coaches, or whether a single coach will work with them to navigate through the process of divorce.  In individual and joint meetings (with or without attorneys present) the Coaches work with the parties to:  1) Identify and prioritize the concerns of each person; 2) Make effective use of conflict resolution and communication skills; 3) Develop effective co-parenting skills; 4) Work collaboratively with the couple, their attorneys, and other involved professionals to improve communication, reduce misunderstandings, and resolve problems as they come up.

Child Specialist Services

As part of the Collaborative Divorce process, couples may wish to enlist the help of a Collaborative Divorce Child Specialist, who will work with the children and the parents to:  1) Provide the child(ren) with an opportunity to voice his/her concerns regarding the divorce; 2) Provide the parents with information and guidance to help their child(ren) through the process; and 3) Give information to the Collaborative team that will help the parties in developing an effective co-parenting plan for the children.
